MATIX SUMMER 2013

Matix

Los Angeles-based surf/skate label Matix just released a look into its 2013 Summer collection via--what else--a surf and skate video. The piece features some casual surfing and shredding in what looks like Venice Beach, California. Okay we get it, staying true to their roots via the help of surf ambassadors Turkey Stopnik and JJ Wessels and some homies that skate real solid. We can dig the homegrown effort.

After reopening its flagship storefront in the city's Lower East Side the label has also released a series of graphic tees to coincide. Koston

ETNIES PLANTS TREES

Etnies

Action Sports shoe company, Etnies, continues to promote its buy-a-shoe-plant-a-tree program which, according to them, has successfully restored over 200,000 trees in Brazil and Costa Rica. Now we're not going to nitpick at the thought of a shoe company caring for the planet on one end and ruining it with mass production on the other. So let's just say that we're going to take Etnies up on their word and scout's honor. If so it's a fruitful, planet-conscious idea that we can stand behind!

Official news about the release should be heading down the pipeline pretty soon.

SOLANGE'S NEW SINGLE "LOSES" US

Solange

Looks like Beyoncé's little sis, Solange, is giving big sis a run for her money! The crafty singer-slash-dj-slash-all-around-cool-girl just released a video for her single Losing You and man is it good! Never mind that the track sounds something right out of an 80's Debarge or Lionel Richie song complete with synths and hand claps, you've got to see the visual to enjoy this one properly. Shot in Capetown, South Africa, the production features cameos from Les Sapeurs (Society of Tastemakers and Elegant People), basically a group of African locals that style themselves as flamboyant French-dandies. Trust us, this combo is proper. Go Solange!
