VOGUE ARCHIVE

Internationally-recognized authority on women's fashion, Vogue, has recently launched an online archive of their entire American magazine catalog. That's right, every single page of every single issues since 1892. The amazing feat doesn't come at a cheap price either, as a yearly subscription to the massive library costs a little over $1500 USD. Experts like Chris Sanderson of The Future Laboratory consulting agency argue that the price is well-worth the creative value:

The archive is clearly being marketed to creative professionals. The searchability gives it real value, because you have the ability to drill down into content and locate exactly what you need. So for example, if a client says ‘I want a mid-70s Bob Richardson feel’, this archive will give you instant access to the images, to understanding the scope of his work, the locations he used, the models.

WHITE SAVIOR COMPLEX

In September, Complex Magazine released a list of Hollywood movies that glorify, what they dub, white savior complex--a social fallacy that proliferates the idea of people of color always needing to be saved, uplifted, or absolved by Anglo counterparts. Some of the flicks mentioned include Dangerous Minds (1995), Machine Gun Preacher (2011), The Air Up There (1994), and The Blind Side (2009) to name a few. Check out the entire list here.

PRODIGY'S ILLUMINATION

Complex Magazine sat down with Mobb Deep member, Prodigy, to discuss his take on the Illuminati and secret societies. Albeit, "hardcore" Hip-Hop usually gets dismissed by so-called "scholars" and intellectuals, we'll be the first to note that "P" drops some real knowledge on this one. Population control, mind control, presidential bloodlines, you name it, he disscusses it!

UPTOWN ROCKS

Hip-Hop was alive and well this past Tuesday thanks to Heineken and Uptown Manhattan's (Washington Heights) jewel-of-the-summer venue, APT 78. The two came together to conclude the wildly successful Uptown Music Series which ended this week with legendary DJ and Producer, Pete Rock. Talk about excitement! But don't take our word for it, just check out Vibe Magazine's coverage of the historic evening!

DUBAI'S DEMISE

The latest issue of Vanity Fair has a telling piece about Dubai's recent downfall. The article describes how much of the emirate country is really a paradox, maintained by Asian drones and enjoyed by Western mercenaries and the rich culture-less. We guess that's what happens when a place is built completely on oil, money, and greed. While lavish and pompous on the outside, it's core really foretells the financial and social decay of the place. Quite the interesting read!
