THE $125K TEACHER’S SALARY
Public Education is almost always a heated debate, especially during these trying economic times. Privately run education, however, is another story. CBS News and 60 Minutes recently ran a piece about a $125k charter school in Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. No, it's not the price students pay, it's the amount the teachers make! The Equity Project, TEP for short, is the brain-child of Zeke Vanderhoek. The school and Vanderhoek conduct an extensive hiring process for all new staff. One other note–no one is granted tenure! That means teachers are evaluated and expected to perform at optimum levels day in and day out. The question now is whether this model will become a more common one among the education sector in America. Check out the story and educate yourself!
