VOLCANIC LIGHTNING

VOLCANIC LIGHTNING

Ever heard of volcanic lighting? Yea, us either! But let's not let that stop us from acknowledging the sheer intensity (and electricity) of these picture from Mount Shinmoedake, Japan. Apparently, no one really knows why the phenomena occurs during some volcanic eruptions. Some theories point towards the possibility of electrically charged volcanic ash. It's quite possible that it creates charged areas as it moves–something similar to rain clouds!
