Brace yourselves for this one: researchers in Switzerland have managed to successfully project human consciousness into digital avatars! Neurologist, Olaf Blanke, and his team at the Brain Mind Institute are able to merge consciousness and the brain's perception of space. The experience works via virtual-reality-style goggles, with researchers testing the out-of-body "connection" by touching participants in and out of digital sync. Results confirm a heightened sense of reality and coherent perception while plugged in. Another interesting point to note is that gender seems to have no effect on the exchange, as researchers have been able to insert male participants into female avatars and females into male ones. Mind-blowing, literally!
