07 03 08 | 7PM | FREE SCREENING: INVENTOS HIP HOP CUBANO

Inventos_2Clenched Fist Productions, Soulfrito and Miami Light Project presents a free screening of Inventos Hip Hop Cubano a film by Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi. The Light Box 3000 Biscayne Blvd, Suite 100 Miami, FL 33137.

"Inventos" refers to the methods and means by which Cubans deal with the difficulties imposed on daily life by the U.S. embargo, and hip-hop is one of the most fascinating and dynamic of these techniques. American documentarian Eli Jacobs Fantauzzi turns in a sensitive portrait of the artists who populate this underground scene, writing lyrics, discussing hip-hop, and giving shows in backyards and basements. The energy of the movement is felt in the words and performances of this impassioned group, who are convinced of their ability to instigate change. At home and on stage, the cameras follow Anonimo Consejo, Grandes Ligas, Obsesion, Dead Prez, Tony Touch, and Havana-based producers Pablo Herrera and Ariel Fernandez, in an illuminating though unromanticized chronicle of a movement.
