POLITICS AS USUAL | KING GEORGE THE 2ND COMMUTES LIBBY'S SENTENCE

By Led Black

King_george The king has spoken loud and clear.  By commuting the sentence of Cheney’s right hand man, I. Lewis Libby, the Imperial President has handed down a decree that him and his administration are above the law.  The United States is officially a monarchy baby, so get used to it.  The political pundits tried to split hairs by saying that Bush didn’t issue a pardon but a commutation - like it really matters.  The fact is that Libby will not be serving the sentence that he was handed.  So what if he has to pay a fine and still be on probation.  With his wealth and connections he is set for life unlike those poor, young soldiers sacrificing their lives for an immoral, unjust war of aggression that Libby helped to make happen.  The toll for the past three months — 329 — has made it the deadliest quarter for U.S. troops in Iraq since this catastrophic conflict began, not to mention the countless dead Iraqis.  The invisible hand of Cheney, the real power behind the throne, is all over this latest insult as Libby is a trusted confidante of his.  We are on the path to a dictatorship people, only an informed and engaged citizenry can avert this serious democratic crisis.  Are we up for the challenge? Happy 4th of July...

How appropriate for "independence" day...perhaps for some but not for all. The justice system is such a joke.
