DEMOCRATS MUST NOW SHOW AND PROVE; AND WE AS AMERICANS MUST REMAIN VIGILANT AND POLITICALLY ENGAGED
By Led Black
On November 7th 2006 the American people spoke. In numbers unprecedented for a mid-term election, the people of this nation said, loud and clear, that they had enough of the Republican controlled congress that has acted as nothing but a rubber stamp on the immoral and illegal actions, both at home and abroad, of George W. Bush. While this election was mostly a referendum on King George’s handling of the Iraq war, the voters also wanted to send a strong signal that the spell has been broken. No longer can Karl Rove and his Republicans minions use fear as a tool to push through their agenda of creating an Imperial Presidency, one that starts wars of choice that kill hundreds of thousands of innocents in other countries and tramples upon long cherished freedoms domestically. Fear to the tenth power; fear of immigrants, fear of gays and fear of terrorists, can never be a substitute for good governance. The jig is up, Donald Rumsfeld has since been sacked as a result of the political tsunami that had occurred. With that being said, it is imperative that the people of this country remain vigilant, informed and involved. The Democrats have to be made to understand that they have been given a mandate to change the trajectory of this nation, if they do not accomplish this endeavor, they too will get the boot. Peace.
