MONDAY 07 17 06 | 18 WITH A BULLET – PBS TELEVISION PREMIERES SEARING DOCUMENTARY ON GANG LIFE IN EL SALVALDOR
El Salvador has one of the highest homicide rates in the world; much of the murders committed in this country can be directly attributed to the influx of deported gang members from LA, where gang life has a long and sordid history. The introduction of Gang culture with its eye for an eye philosophy, into a poor country where social order is almost non-existent and where guns are plentiful is a recipe for disaster. Filmmaker Ricardo Pollack documents 6 months in the lives of these troubled, extremely violent and mostly very young gang members who see their gang as their sole support system.
