ARE WE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE DEMOCRATIC WORLD?
By David Newberger
I find myself looking more and more at Politics, Governments, and Ideologies. When I look at other places I begin to wonder if the United States of America (The Model for Democracy as it has been called) is no longer a good example of a Democracy. Yes we do have Many different parties and sure we have many different viewpoints but what does that mean when those viewpoints clash and are illogical and dangerous in some cases.
Have we as a society reach a point where the religious beliefs that we follow are governing the way we think? Have we reached a point where the Huge Corporation is more important then the person? Have we truly begun to go down the road of the outcast?
These are only some of the questions that are in my head right now. I stay up at night and I worry about what type of world my 10 month old will be faced with when she is 20,30,50, or 70. These questions all lead me down a road that I don’t like the picture of. As it stands right now the American Citizen is Less Educated in the Sciences and even less educated in the humanities then a good portion of the developed world. On top of that we rank near the bottom when it comes to the health of our citizens.
I am one for Capitalism however I am also one for a well rounded, educated, and healthy citizen. We can not and should not be neglecting the education of our children nor the health of our citizens. But who do we blame for this?
