APRIL 1, 2006 | 7:30PM | MARTA GOMEZ AT JOE’S PUB
From Cali, Colombia, singer-songwriter Marta Gomez crafts genuine songs with hooks that can transport even non-Spanish-speakers into the heart of her anthemic refrains and irresistible rhythms. Accompanied by a trio of her fellow South American musicians, Gomez mixes a wide range of Colombian cumbia and bambuco, Argentine zamba, venezuelan joropo and Peruvian landó resulting in a wonderfully fresh sound. Gomez’s album Cantos de Agua released by Chesky Records, was nominated for Billboard Latin Music Awards as the best Latin Jazz Album of 2005. Marta can also be heard on the recent Putumayo release Women of Latin America. Tonight Marta celebrates the release of her latest Chesky album Entre Cada Palabra (Between Each Word). "…a pure-voiced folk
traditionalist and jazzy pop adventurer at the same time." – The Boston Herald. For more info on Marta, visit www.martagomez.com.
