I have to admit, although I am a loyal Jennifer Lopez supporter she’s not one of my favorite actresses & hasn’t made the best decisions with films she’s chosen to be a part of, I’m also a fan of Marc Anthonys music but most of all I’m an even bigger fan of Hector Lavoe. With that being said I was pretty skeptical that JLo would be able to pull of a movie based on this un-forgetable Salsa Legend. If you’ve researched the music, his life (Lavoe) and the era of which included several other salsa greats such as Maelo, Richie Ray, Cheo Feliciano, Ray Barreto and other Salsa greats you’d be very much aware that with Lavoe’s life in itself there’s a great story to tell and honestly I was impressed. Yes I’ve heard the critics (mostly from the Latino community) of comments stating how certain events/situations weren’t true or “not exactly how things happened” however, what they all fail to see is that this is a movie based on the life of Hector Lavoe and if they understood the industry, they’d know in order to make a good well rounded story you have to embellish on some points, leave out some others that some may deem critical. All in all I’m very proud of Jennifer and Marc they both did a sensational job. They’re acting’s terrific Marc moved like Hector…the body language! wow! Se me parraron los pellos! Honestly especially the first scene where he’s walking in to sing! It was a good story and if you educate yourself enough to know of Hectors life, his music, that era you’d certainly appreciate this story as I did.
